Spring Into Gratitude
As flowers begin to push through the cold winter ground, one word comes to mind: gratitude. Gratitude for warmer weather, leaves, flowers, and brighter days.
Just like spring, gratitude has a way of bringing transformation and growth to our minds. It not only changes the way we think, but gratitude also supports brain health by:
-
Increasing feel-good chemicals associated with happiness and wellbeing
-
Activating parts of the brain that help us think more clearly
-
Reducing stress hormones, allowing the body and mind to relax
For ways you can bring a bit more gratitude into the spring season, read this week’s blog.

Pose of the Month
Easy Pose (Sukhasana)
This practice is good for meditation and as a gentle warm-up to improve posture.

-
Sit in a comfortable cross-legged position, using a blanket or pillow under the hips, sitting against a wall or sitting on blocks or a pillow to elevate tight hips.
-
Press into the sit bones as your rise up through the spine.
-
Relax your shoulders down away from the ears, pull the navel in softly, and lift the chest.
-
Bring your palms together at the center of the chest in a prayer position.
-
Close or lower your eyes and focus on slow, intentional breaths.
-
Flow (Optional): Inhale to raise the prayer hands toward the sky to open the chest, then exhale to lower them back to the heart center.
-
Hold pose for 1-5 minutes.
Managing Stress
One Breath at a Time
The Stress Management Workshop held on March 23rd was a beautiful reminder of how powerful it is to slow down and connect with self. We focused on simple movement, breath, and giving the nervous system space to reset.
Another powerful thing: community. Being able to share our stories with each other and learn from one another is always powerful.
